10 Sep HART Sapphire and Ruby Series’ to celebrate R U OK? Round
Netball Queensland is proud to announce this weekend’s Round 5 fixtures in both the HART Sapphire and Ruby Series’ will be played under the banner of the inaugural R U OK? Round.
R U OK? Round will encourage players, coaches, umpires, officials and spectators across both competitions to start a meaningful conversation with anyone they are worried about.
Netball Queensland’s General Manager of Venues, Events, Competitions and Commercial, Ben Mannion, said the power of conversation and supporting one another has never been more important than in the current environment.
“Netball Queensland is committed to building a culture where all members of our community feel safe, encouraged and supported,” Mannion said.
“Dedicating this Round to R U OK? in the year that we have experienced is vital to raise awareness in our netball community to continue to foster that sense of connection and belonging at the very core of our game.”
“When colleagues, teammates, family, friends and supporters show tolerance and understanding, it can make it easier for people to speak up, seek help if needed, and access it before small things become big issues.”
R U OK? Day is a national day of action, held on the second Thursday in September. But every day is the day to start a conversation that could change a life.
As part of the HART Sapphire and Ruby Series’ R U OK? Round, players, coaches, umpires and officials will be encouraged to wear yellow armbands, while spectators can also wear something yellow to support the initiative and start conversations.
